The Project -

A Loft Conversion of a Victorian property in Birmigham to provide bedroom space. 2 Rooflight Velux windows were added bringing in lots of natural light, and an oak floor fitted.

The process -

In order to allow the room to be used as a bedroom new floor joists were installed and wall and floor installation complying with Building Regulations added. 2 Velux rooflights were installed bringing in lots of natural light. The walls and ceiling were plasterboarded and a chipboard floor was laid in preparation for the oak flooring. The loft was then plastered and painted and the oak foor laid . 

In order for the loft to be used as a bedwoom a permanent staircase had to be installed with a protected fire corridor of at least 30mins. Hardwired smoke detectors were also installed.
